DOWNTOWN RESIDENCE
This project began with a single, ambitious brief: hotel luxury at home. Set within one of Downtown Dubai’s older residential towers, the three-bedroom apartment offered something newer buildings rarely do: generous proportions, larger rooms and an expansive internal area. The client chose to strip everything back to the shell and rebuild from the ground up, turning a dated layout into a refined, high-end residence with the polish and atmosphere of a five-star suite.
The palette is moody and rich, built on contrast and natural stone. Calacatta Viola, with its bold burgundy veining, sits alongside warm travertine and deep Nero marble, layered against oak joinery that matches the herringbone engineered wood floor. The result is a home that feels warm and grounded, while the stone brings a sense of drama and permanence.
In the living and dining area, a fully built-in feature wall frames the TV and anchors the space, its oak joinery running clean and continuous. A structural column, once an obstacle, is now a design moment: wrapped in mirror cladding, it reflects light around the room and makes the open space feel even larger.
The kitchen was completely redone for a client who loves to cook. Kept closed for function and calm, it combines warm tones with sculptural handles that turn everyday hardware into a tactile detail. Miele and Gaggenau appliances complete a kitchen built for serious cooking without compromising on elegance.
The most transformative change came in one of the bedrooms, which was reimagined as a dedicated walk-in closet and dressing suite. Its adjoining bathroom was redesigned around it, with glass doors that can stay open to connect the two spaces, mirror cladding, and a patterned marble floor. At its centre, a freestanding bathtub looks out over the closet: a private, boutique-hotel moment within the home. Every bathroom in the apartment was fully renovated with the same attention to stone, finish and detail.
The result is a residence that feels considered from end to end. Through a complete renovation, a bold material palette and a reworked layout, the apartment now offers the comfort, privacy and quiet luxury of a hotel stay, tailored entirely to the way its owners live.
